Photovoltaic (PV) Technology Today, Not just solar panels on your roof any more!
Speaker Bio:
John R. Balfour is the president of PerfectPower Inc. which he founded in 1998.
PerfectPower is the most award winning Solar Company in the Southwest and is the only solar company in the USA to ever win a Better Business Bureau, BBB, Business Ethics Award.
He has been in an active leader in the solar industry since the 1970’s and has been trademarked as “The Energy Doctor†since 1981.
He has two degrees from ASU including a BS in Science in Political Science (1977) and a Masters of Architecture in the Masters of Environmental Planning (MEP) Program (1982) which was ASU’s solar program in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
In 1992, he received a Ph.D. in Management which was funded by the Daimler Benz Corporation.
He has been an active proponent of the application of high performance PV systems (systems that perform well in desert regions like Arizona) and aesthetically pleasing PV design and installations.
He has written for five newspapers and speaks on PV issues regularly to professional and civic organizations.
Dr. Balfour has had an exciting and interesting career in renewable energy and transportation including work with magnetic levitation technology during the years he was with Magnetic Transit of America (MTA).
Dr. Balfour is also a LEED Accredited Professional.
Presently, John is growing his business and is working with the Photovoltaic Test Lab at ASU Polytechnic, where he was also a consultant. He is also working with SRP to develop a national high temperature PV testing standard.
Dr. Balfour is also a consultant to some of the largest developers in Arizona and to the largest residential home developer in the United States today.
Dr. Balfour was also a volunteer planner for the first Earth Day celebrations while he was working as a volunteer for the City of Phoenix, Mayors Youth Advisory Board (MYAB) in 1969 thru 1971.
