Topic: "Surge Protection Overview *NEW TOPIC*"
This presentation will cover some of the important aspects of surge protection in an electrical distribution system, including:
• Transients Overview
• Importance of Surge Protection
• UL 1449 and NEC 700.8 2014
• SPD Design Basics
• Applications and Specification
We will be looking at Transients and their effects on our electrical system and electrical components, as well as the importance of proper surge protection. We will be briefly touching on the new NEC 700.8 code change as well as the UL 1449 testing methods and language. We will also explore the basic design of all SPD’s and look at proper sizing application and installation locations.

Brett Bennett is the owner of Critical Power Solutions LLC, an Eaton Authorized Representative.
Brett is a Colorado State University Graduate with a Bachelor's in Communication with 7 years of experience in the Electrical and Data com industry, 5 years with an Electrical Distributor in Colorado, 1 year with a Data com Manufacturer's representative in Arizona, 1 Year owning a small business as a Manufacturer's representative for Eaton's Eaton Power Quality Product line that includes: Power factor correction; Surge Protection; and Power Conditioning products.
