Today's critical computer operations demand the highest reliability and maximum availability of power. Any downtime, even for power systems maintenance has become unacceptable. Therefore, today's power systems designs must provide the utmost in reliability, redundancy and flexibility.

This presentation provides an understanding of basic "double-conversion" UPS systems as well as different configurations used in providing mission-critical UPS power for single and multiple distribution buss configurations with emphasis on eliminating single point failures.


Speaker Bio:
Jack started his career in electrical engineering at Texas Instruments (Dallas) while majoring in digital electronics at Eastfield College in the early 70's.

His UPS background originated with International Power Machines Corporation (IPM) in 1975. While at IPM, he held various technical positions including test lab and field service engineer, training specialist, applications engineer, inside sales engineer and finally as the Midwest Regional sales manager. From 1981 to 1986 he ran his own business as a power systems specialist in the Midwest.

He joined Powerware Corporation (previously known as Exide Electronics) in 1986. During his 18 years with Powerware he has held various technical sales and management positions.

Jack has 29 years experience in the UPS industry. He currently serves as the Technical Sales Director for Powerware's Large Systems Group. His primary area of responsibility includes the southern and western United States.
