With increased awareness by both owners and employees, electrical safety awareness has grown in the commercial and industrial industry. Improved work practices have attributed to a significant decrease in recordable fatalities with potential arc components. Tools for a comprehensive electrical safety program include OSHA 29 CFR publications, the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace. Significant changes occurred between the 2004 and 2009 publications of 70E. This presentation will present those changes and provide an open forum to discuss their implications.
Speaker Bio:
Eric Campbell is a licensed electrical engineer at Brown and Caldwell Engineering. Mr. Campbell has over 22 years of combined experience in power plant operation, electrical installation, design and electrical engineering analysis. He has provided design of power, lighting, grounding, fire alarm and toxic gas monitoring systems for residential, institutional, commercial and municipal applications. Mr. Campbell has conducted an extensive number of engineering analysis studies and is actively involved with the IEEE 1584 Committee as well as the National Fire Protection Agency. Mr. Campbell is a certified Electrical Safety Instructor.
