The Harmonic Spectra of Interharmonics

Date: Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Location: SRP Information Services Building (ISB), 1600 N Priest Dr, Tempe, AZ 85281

Speaker: Gary Malhoit, SRP

Topic: "The Harmonic Spectra of Interharmonics"

This month’s topic addresses a lesser known area of power quality referred to as interharmonics. For background, a brief overview of harmonics is discussed then the dialog rapidly shifts to interharmonics. The topic includes a conversation on the importance of understanding the DFT window as related to interharmonics and discusses the sources, issues, allowed magnitudes and standards concerning interharmonics. Further, the topic covers measurements issues regarding interharmonics. Finally, there is a discussion addressing the IEC grouping standard for measuring harmonic spectra.
