Power Quality Vis-à-Vis Inductance

Topic: "Power Quality Vis-à-Vis Inductance"

This presentation begins with a brief history of electricity and explaining important distinctions between inductance and induction. Next, the significance of flux linkage is discussed and the characteristics of conductors including size, spacing and aspect ratio of coils. Finally, several power quality applications showing the importance of inductance are illustrated.

Speaker Bio:
Gary Malhoit is a Senior Engineer in the Power Quality Group of SRP. Prior to coming to SRP, Gary's career included working in various engineering positions at NCR, Bechtel and Motorola. While at Motorola nearly 20 years, he wrote numerous technical articles for Motorola's Silver Quill program and was on the original working group of SEMI F47 for voltage sag immunity. Gary is currently a member of the IEEE 1668 working group for testing electrical equipment and a member of IEEE/PES. Gary has a BS in electrical engineering from of the University of Tennessee and an MBA from the University of Memphis. He is a registered electrical engineer in Arizona and licensed as a patent agent to prosecute patent cases before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
